<3>Smooth Scheduling Progress Due To Defined Milestones.
Looking back on the project, Mr. Naohide Habara (producer) commented that "[i]t was so smooth, with no problems, that I was scared". The reason for this, he realized, was due to smooth communication from both internal and external channels which allowed for a stress and problem free atmosphere. Externally, the regular milestone visits to the Capcom offices in Osaka enabled a clear direction of policy for the project. Internally, accurate process knowledge, of each of the project's 29 staff members, allowed for stress free production to be completed at the studio.
For this project, Ms. Akemi Sugio acted as the person who accepted the confirmed schedule from the client. She had worked on past projects and went on to act as an assistant producer for this piece of work. She acknowledged that the smooth running of the project was due to both collaboration of the production staff alongside close cooperation of the client. This meant that no major unwinds/redevelopments of the project were necessary. She said: "At the projects outset, we designed an inhouse schedule detailing from the moment we received instruction from Capcom in February through to delivery at the end of August. Due to our close contact, we could establish milestones for every important junctions of the project. As such, I knew the pieces of the project which I was able to present to the client as evidence of our achievements." (Ms. Sugio)
Timings for the project were regularly checked with the client; although care was taken to ensure that the frequency of these checks were never too great or too small. Milestones were established so as to understand how the project would progress which allowed for an indicative deadline date to be established. With this in mind, we were able to reflect on the project throughout its development and identify any elements which needed revision. Fortunately, no major revisions were discovered during this project.
・Overarching Project SchedulingAn overall schedule was produced, showing work up until delivery, so as to share, confirm and understand each milestone with Capcom.
・Inhouse ScheduleThe studio's work schedule for in-house staff. It was composed with as much detail as possible so that work would be able to coordinated without problems. Even though work was shared across each process, it was organized so as to take an appreciation for handover timings between the various teams.
